Lay upon the pillow Sleep comes in fits This autumn is familiar Does it always feel like breaking rope? Pray for the dead and Pray for the living who can't feel anymore Pray for the end Pray that it come so softly for us If It don't I'm still wishing you well anyway I know you got a man now Know he paints you better than I do All these nights in Noho when I sit alone and All I can do is write this about you Pray for the dead and Pray for the living who can't feel anymore Pray for the end Pray that it come so softly for us If it don't I'm still wishing you well anyway

One toll road takes me And I will run to you I can't think of anything better Than spending each season as two I don't know these folks But I'll say hello With every evening I'll be falling in love and I don't care to live other ways But it is untoward to make advancements at this point Though it's all that I need And you won't be lonely Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh Yeah lonely in the city Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh Yeah lonely in the city I'll try I'll do But it is all Up to you Ain't that a shame? We had to end it so early I miss waking beside your face I don't know all truths but I would hold you close With every evening I'll be falling in love and I don't care to live other ways But it is untoward to make advancements at this point Though it's all that I need And you won't be lonely When you're gone I hope you will find A place to call your own When you're gone I hope you will find It's where you belong Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh Yeah lonely in the city Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh Yeah lonely in the city I'll try I'll do But it is all Up to you

Just Hold On 02:12
And is it true That you don't love me anymore? But in my heart Baby I don't know what to look for I just hold on I just hold on I just hold on And when you go Out in the morning I'm filled with hope That you'd think about me on your way To sell lunch meals to school folk I just hold on I just hold on I just hold on Wasted on you The feelings that come on I'm so wasted on you Though I'm watching you go
4.
There's something in the way She walks by without a word Shadows cast in the liquor store doorway When it comes to mind There isn't much, but in a term, 'Slightly torrid' Even above the earth Floating around it Even above the earth Where it's so cold you can't Feel a thing And though it seems We walked apart From the usual way I'm wishing you well honest to goodness Far be it for me To distract you from life I'll be seeing you on the outside But in this absolution I'll be of service Tender though your arms are You know I'll flow like water Through your hands You were so gold I was the gold rush What I couldn't hold on to I hope it goes on
5.
Went on down to the water's edge Let the river roll on by Lay back Lay back in the light Lay back Lay back in the light The world is so much colder than you noted Without your arms around me I'll keep floating on When you get hurt again Will I be around to pick up the pieces? Be around to pick up the pieces? And I know Though you say he's just a friend I want to know from the way you're talking Is it hard to hold him Or is it better than I can? The world is so much colder than I noted Without your arms around me I keep floating on

about

Collection of songs about a year of heartbreak recorded over a series of late evenings in December 2018. Love is a hard thing to let go of, and nurturing it requires patience, care and acceptance. Surround yourself with people who are tender, diligent, and respectful. All proceeds of this work will donated to Safe Passage because I don't need the money.

When I was in college I took a class on songwriting because I wrote music all the time and thought it wouldn't be difficult to just bring in riffs from hardcore tunes I had written. But then the class turned out to be about 'Song' writing, which meant the songs had to possess a traditional structure with a melody set to lyrics. I thought this was a ridiculous standard so I made a commitment to write the type of highly saccharine, overly sentimental music the listening consisted of (Country Music, The Beatles, 50's pop like 'Lollipop Lollipop'). This started with narratives about weird romance and love that I largely fictionalized, but thought represented inner parts of my psychology like lust, remorse, passion, emotional investment, etc. Since then I've gotten older and developed more personal material on the subject. Weirdly, while I used to sort of scoff at the idea that, while I felt these emotions, this type of music really resonated me. But I think I've just brainwashed myself into a weird appreciation for sappy sentiments now with a steady diet of old r&b, pop, rock and country about love and loss.
